The illustrations are among Wyeth’s most dramatic and lyrical, capturing the romance and peril of Kingsley’s sweeping historical novel set in the Elizabethan age.
This copy comes from James Gurney’s personal collection. Condition is good to very good: the cover shows light scuffing and edge wear, and the title page has a small corner crease. The interior pages are clean and the plates remain rich in color.
